The Christian Reformed Campus Ministry at Dalhousie University
The Christian Reformed Campus Ministry at Dalhousie University, a ministry of the Christian Reformed Church, invites applications for a part-time (0.5) Campus Chaplain to develop a vibrant campus ministry.  The position will begin August 2017. Primarily centred on the Dalhousie University campus, the chaplain will grow and creatively expand a program integrating spirituality, life, and learning.
The successful applicant is self-motivated, committed to the Reformed faith, has experience working with young adults; relates well to religious and ethnically diverse groups on and around campus; is able to nurture healthy relationships with professional peers from other denominations and faiths.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Connections and Relationships
  • Help students connect with each other through common Christian belief
  • Provide opportunities to build relationships through activities, events and education
  • Maintain a connection with All Nations Church through active inclusion of the congregation and communication of campus ministry opportunities
  1. Mentoring
  • Mentor students, helping to strengthen and shape them in life, studies and faith
  • Develop relationships where students can talk about different tools to support integrating faith and intellectual life so that they can participate in honest, meaningful dialogue in an academic environment
  1. Spiritual Community
  • Provide activities that will encourage students to pursue God both in their professional, academic and personal life
  • Give students a space where they can come together and grow, talking about their experiences and challenges as Christians
  • Facilitate connections with a local church and larger Christian community
  1. Service
  • Develop a culture of service
  • Provide opportunities for students to use their gifts to help others
  1. Spiritual Formation
  • Encourage spiritual formation of students and provide opportunities for development; nurture both career (success/intellectual pursuits) and faith (purpose, significance, pursuit of God)
  • Provide a safe place where both career/education and faith can come together; talk about the journey of reconciling faith and reason
 
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Theology, with a Reformed perspective, with 3-5 years providing leadership and mentoring students.  Must be highly motivated and able to exercise initiative, multitask and work cohesively within a team environment.  Excellent organization and communication skills (oral and written).  Proficient ability in the use of current technology, including social media networking.  Masters in Divinity, advanced academic degrees preferred.

Community Christian School in Metcalfe has two openings for Summer Student employees under the Canada Summer Jobs Program (Human Resources and Skills Development Canada) for 8 weeks, 40 hours per week, beginning June 19.
