Prayer Ministry

Prayer Ministry at BFCRC
Our God loves us deeply and longs to be in a relationship with us. We as individuals and as church suffer great loss when we fail to ask God for the spiritual blessings he wants to give. Prayer takes faith and obedience; it’s our lifeline to Him--our source of strength and blessing.

Prayer as it grows in maturity also becomes our life breath.  As Ruth Haley Barton explains in her book Sacred Rhythms, our use of the spiritual disciplines is prayer. "the longer I journey in the spiritual life, the more I experience all of life as prayer and the other disciplines as different ways of praying."   May we too feel that every experience of life is an opportunity to call out to the God who is ready and expectantly waiting for a deeper communion with us.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Ephesians 6:18
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.  And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
Romans 8:26-27

Wednesday Evening Prayer Time
7-8 pm at Church

We have chosen two themes for these evenings
June 14th will be a time of prayer for those who are suffering, spiritually, physically or emotionally. We all struggle with something and sometimes it causes us to get stuck.  Let’s gather for prayer to encourage, comfort and show our love.
Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.
Philippians 2:1-2
June 28th will be a time of prayer for witness, mission and neighborhood.  As we go into the summer months it is a good reminder that our witness, our mission and our neighborhood is where ever God places us.  Let's join together to encourage each other in our daily walk of discipleship.
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
Acts 20:24

On June 18th and as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of our nation, our Church will be participating in Government Prayer Sunday with the National House of Prayer (NHOP) in Ottawa.
We will be joining Churches across the country with a united voice of prayer for Canada and our local, provincial and federal elected officials.
We will also support the on-going work of NHOP by receiving an offering for this ministry. NHOP mobilizes informed and sustained prayer for all government leaders and the decisions they make.
