Attributes of God: Immutable-unchanging

Sermon Title & Scripture: Seeking for God (Psalm 27)

Summary: This Psalm speaks with two voices.  The first voice is a strong and confident faith.  The second voice is a fearful, struggling faith.  The two seem to be only a breath apart.  Many of us can relate especially in this season of Christmas.  We can experience the joy of the season, our faith charged up with angels as we sing praise to the newborn king.  However, privately, in this the darkest time of the year we can be brought to a place of loneliness, depression and doubt.  Both moods seemingly existing at the same time.  So the cry of the Psalmist is not inconsistent with the spiritual mood swings we all experience.  The Psalmist’s answer to these mood swings is to seek God.  Seek him in your worship and in your prayers.  Seek in obedience to his will.  As A.W. Tozer says… “follow hard after God,...for finding will be sweeter because of the long seeking.”
