Attributes of God: Faithfulness, sovereignty
Sermon Title & Scripture: Thirsting for God (Psalm 42 & 43)
Summary: These two Psalms describe in a profound way the universal human thirst we have for God and for those who are his people. Unfortunately, our materialistic driven society often deepens our thirst, leaving us dry, lonely and burdened like the writer of these Psalms. There is no indication that the writer has done anything to contribute to his wilderness experience. Rather, his current life situation (removed from temple worship) has made him spiritually thirsty. What does the Psalmist do about his dryness? He shares honestly with God how he feels. He analyzes his hopes. He remembers the acts of God in his life. He turns to God with his excessive thirst and drinks deeply from God himself.
