Advent Light of PEACE
Attributes of God: Grace & Forgiveness
Sermon Title & Scripture: Waiting for God (Psalm 130)
Summary: Suffering is not what bothers this Psalmist. Rather, the Psalmist is agonizing over his sin. We don’t know what his sin was, but we know it brought him to the depth of despair. It seemed to be sin that isolated him from others. Perhaps those he wronged? Suppose you or I are ‘in the depths’. Where can we turn for help? Friends, perhaps other brothers or sisters in Christ, a pastor or a counselor? The Psalmist encourages us to start with God who is ‘rich in mercy’. As a first Advent believer, the Psalmist waits for the Lord God to bring the Day, and ‘redeem Israel from all their sins’. The New Testament announces good news; the time of waiting is over. Jesus came to save his people from their sin!
